Climate Change & Sustainability

Climate change refers to the change of the average climate state over time, which can be divided into geological period climate change, historical period climate change and modern climate change. Climate change is not only the cause of natural variability, but also the result of human activity. In the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC), climate change refers to "climate change caused by human activities directly or indirectly altering the composition of the global atmosphere over a period of time other than natural climate change. There are many reasons for climate change, but in this article, I mainly discuss the human factors. The human factor mainly refers to the artificial continuous change of the use of land and other components, mainly due to the human activities since the industrial revolution, especially the economic activities in the process of industrialization in developed countries. Climate change is mainly manifested in three aspects: Global Warming, Acid Deposition, and Ozone Depletion. Of these three aspects, this article focuses on global warming. It is also the most pressing problem human society facing today.
Global warming is caused by the continuous accumulation of the greenhouse effect, which leads to the imbalance of energy absorbed and emitted by the earth andgas system. Energy is continuously accumulated in the earth and gas system, which leads to the temperature rise and global warming. From 1981 to 1990, the global average temperature was 0.48℃ higher than that of 100 years ago. The main reason for global warming is that mankind has used a large amount of fossil fuels (such as coal and oil) for nearly acentury, emitting a large amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gases. These greenhouse gases contribute to global warming.
During the 20th century, the world's average temperature climbed about 0.6℃. In 2019,the global climate system accelerated its warming, advanced phenology, meltingglaciers and rising sea levels. Many historical records have been broken, and climatic extremes have increased.
All these changes show that the global climate is gradually warming and is still onthe rise. And global warming will bring a series of adverse effects. Meanwhile, the rapid increase of population is one of the main factors leading to global warming. UN statistics show that it took more than a century for the world's population to grow from 1 billion to 2 billion, and 32 years for the world's population to grow from 2 billion to 3 billion, and it has been increasing by 1 billion every 12 years since 1987. Current projections suggest that the world's population will continue to grow fordecades to come, so the tolerance of the world's environment will continue tobe tested. At the same time, it also seriously threatens the balance between the natural ecological environment. At the same time, environmental pollutionis also an important cause. The increasingly serious environmental pollutionhas become a major global problem. Air pollution and Marine pollution are all part of it. In addition, land erosion, desertification, decreased forest resources, acid rain and other important causes global warming.
Aristotle contended that intensity is a function of proximity; the intensity of emotionscan be described in terms of the nearness or remoteness of the objects that trigger emotions, including the personal relationships that stimulate them. For example, the closer what we fear is in time and space, the more intensely we experience that fear; the more remote the cause of the fear, the less intense is the experience of fear. We have very little fear of bears roaming the woods in Alaska as long as we are not in the woods in Alaska, but if the bear is in our home, our fear is greatly intensified. I think that's one of the reasons why we don't pay enough attention to the environment. We've all heard about the ozone layer being destroyed, or the melting of glaciers, and animals dying out in some of the coldest places before. But all in all, these things are so far away from our daily lives that we don't have such experiences. Most of us get this information from TV, newspapers and the Internet, so it's hard to empathize and give little thought to the urgency of these issues.
Rhetoricis also axiological. That is, it helps to create, study, and use values. Interms of axiology, it can serve values—such as materialism, free enterprise, spirituality, and individualism—that can be either good or bad depending on your perspective. Deciding which values are most important and relevant to a given situation is extremely important. Everyone has their own different values. Different values determine different value orientations and what kind of things they will do to realize their personal values. These values are shaped by their lifestyle over the years, but they are not fixed. People can change their values through their cognition of events, so as to make corresponding measures.
Therefore, in the face of the increasingly serious environmental problems, people do not choose to turn a blind eye, but put forward such a solution: "sustainable development".
Sustainable development is not only about nature, but also about theories and strategies related to the coordinated development of science and technology, economy and society. While sustainable development is linked to these, it will also face many challenges, and climate change is within the framework of sustainable development.
“If we are to address global climate change while pursuing sustainable development, we need to establish a new global climate governance system featuring win-win cooperation, equity, justiceand common development. Addressing climate change is a fundamental change in the pattern of economic and social development and a boost to energy technology innovation.” (Authoritative interpretation of climate change and sustainable development, He Jiankun)
We have to cope with climate change under the framework of sustainable development, to achieve energy change and economic transformation, promoting economic transformation towards green, low carbon, establish green, low carbonand sustainable development mode of development, will promote the change of energy, using new energy and renewable energy instead of coal, oil, fossil energy, make low carbon energy structure change.
Environmental problems have gradually become an international problem, and each country has its own countermeasures. In addition to the efforts made by the country, in fact, we can all contribute to environmental protection. First, we should attach great importance to the protection of the environment on the personal level, the people's living environment needs everyone's effort and contribution to improve. We can start from around things, do not litter, do not trample on the lawn, stop others for the phenomenon of damage the environment, be a law-abiding citizen.
At the same time, in order to deepen the sustainable development of economy, people can also change the way of travel to achieve the purpose of environmental protection. They can reduce the travel rate of private cars, walk or take the bus travel. Reducing automobile exhaust emission can effectively improve the air quality and reduce the occurrence of haze weather.
