Delegation from Hong Kong General Chamber of Jewelry Visited HSNU


 

On the afternoon of August 14, under the company of Mr. Huang Qing Ming, Deputy Secretary   of Chaozhou Municipality, Zhuo Qican, Chairman of Hong Kong General Chamber of Jewelry, led a delegation of four visited HSNU for exchange and cooperation.Lin Guangying, DeputySecretary of the University Committee, received the guests at the meeting room of Weinan  International Conference Center.

At the meeting, Chairman Zhuo gave a brief introduction to the Chamber and expounded the   purpose of the visit. As a patriotic chamber and a core social organization for the jewelry  industry in Hong Kong, the Chamber aims at pooling jewelry elites and providing opportunity  for people within the industry to exercise their talents, foster a sense of responsibility and enhance friendships, so as to promote the jewelry industryin-between the Mainland, Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Taiwan Island. In the meantime, the Chamber has established ties with two institutes of higher education to expand its business scope and co-produce talents for the industry.  Mr. Zhuo said that as a descendant of Chaozhou, it was his obligation to do his due part to the hometown. This visit to HSNU, introduced by Chaozhou Municipality, was aimed at seeking cooperation in running schools to cultivate jewelry talents and push ahead the jewelry industry in the City. He believed HSNU, a locally-based university with profound cultural  deposits, a strong faculty, scientific subjects integration as well as outstanding performance in talent cultivation, was conducive to win-win cooperation. Therefore, he expressed his confidence on the visit.    

Lin Guangying first welcomed and appreciated the visit by the delegation and then briefly   introduced HSNU’s history, running features and achievements in talent cultivation as well  as the University’s guiding principles, aims and measures. He said that HSNU woud spare no  efforts to enrich itself and improve quality by focusing on the University Committee’s strategy of “Party Construction, New Normal University, New Engineering Courses, Chaozhou  Culture, as well as Ceramics and Intangible Culture”. It would take advantages of the industrial bases and cultural resources available in Chaozhou for better integration to create a cultural & scientific innovation industrial park featuring three centers – Ceramic Material Innovation Research  Center, Eastern Guangdong Food Industry Innovation Research Center and Chaoshan Intangible Cultural Heritage Base. Lin also pointed out the visit led by the delegation offered an opportunity for diversifying the ways of running the University.

He expressed the hope of more constructive suggestions from the delegation for mutual cooperation and mutual developments and sincere thanks to Chaozhou Municipal Party Committee and Government for their constant support to HSNU’s advancement.    

Huang Qingming mentioned that the Government had attached great importance to pass on folk arts and culture with increasing support and guidance and had achieved the honorary title    of “Capital of Handicraft and Folk Arts”. It is the Government’s plan to increase investment for talents education with joined cooperation between the Chamber and HSNU to promote Chaozhou’s intangible cultural heritage for a win-win outcome.

Other members of the delegation were Chen Lunxing, Vice-chairman of the Chamber and President of Min Fung Hang Jewelry Group; Lin Licheng, Chairman of Hong Kong Lukfook Jewellery; and Zhuo Peihuai, Director of Enterprise Development of Fook Cheong Gold Jewelry Group. Huang Jingzhong, Director of the Academic Programs Office; Lin Guangwen, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Cheng Weimin, Party Secretary of the School of Ceramics and Intangible Cultural Heritages; Chen Jing, Dean of the School of Culinary Arts and Hotel Management; and Jiang Genhao from the Office of Development and Planning, also attended the meeting and carried out in-depth discussions on the basis,scale, level and specialty setting for cooperation in running schools.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the Exhibition Hall of Outstanding Alumni, Chi-Chan Chen Calligraphy Hall, Chen Fuli Photography Hall, the Hall of Fame for Alumnus   Lin Jinhua, and the Sandbox of HSNU.

The delegation was accompanied by officers from the Foreign Affairs Office of Chaozhou, the  Office of Government Affairs, President of Guangdong Jiejing Ceramic Technology Co., Ltd., as well as officials from the University’s Office for Presidents and the Publicity Office.
