SDU Held the Academic Salon of "Intelligent Biorobotics"
[ Home ]The Fourth Interdisciplinary Academic Salon of SDU featuring "Intelligent Biorobotics" was held at the Central Campus on Janurary 18. The event was attended by Li Shucai, the Vice President of SDU, among others.
Biorobotics refer to robots that emulate or simulate biological organisms and engage in the biological characteristics of work, which posses many qualities irreplaceably distinct from the original. The industry of biorobotics is so promising that it appears to have significant implications in many areas. Biorobotics are now becoming more intelligent and multi-functional thanks to various new technologies applied in this age of big data and artificial intelligence. With "Intelligent Biorobotics" as its theme, this salon gathered professionals and scholars from different research fields, at which they reported their research results in bioroboics for cloud service and recovery nursing, and in bionic penguins, etc. They also had in-depth discussions and an exchange of views on the new way of studying interdisciplinary subjects.
Professor Tian Xincheng and associate professor Ji Bing of the School of Control Science and Engineering of SDU presided over the reports session and the symposium respectively. During the reports session, Yu Junzhi, researcher with the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Science, made the special report on the control of bionic penguin's jumping. Zhou Fengyu, professor of the School of Control Science and Engineering of SDU, made the special report on the theme of "Robots for Cloud Service", introducing the status quo of the study of biorobotics for cloud service, its main research contents and the cases of cloud robots. Zhu Qiuguo, associate professor of Zhejiang University, made the special report on the control of bionic quadruped robots' running and jumping. And Cui Zhenli, professor and deputy dean of the Software College of SDU, made the special report on artificial intelligence and cognitive behavioral technology. After the reports, 10 experts from both SDU and other institutes and Ph.D. students exchanged speeches, sharing experiences of their own research fields and directions.
This salon is sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology Management of SDU. The attendees are professionals and postgraduates from 15 schools of different disciplines including science, engineering, medicine, and literature; affiliated hospital and other secondary organizations of SDU; institutes of higher learning such as Zhejiang University and the Chinese Academy of Science; hospitals like Shandong Provincial Hospital; as well as other enterprises. Additional, thousands more from both home and abroad watched the livestreaming of this salon on the internet.
The interdisciplinary academic salons of SDU are held for the purpose of achieving the goal of building a top-notch university and first-rate disciplines by promoting integration among different disciplines, establishing high-level exchange platforms in various areas, and stimulating the internal vitality of conducting scientific and technological research. With "Opening, integration, coordination and innovation" as its mission statement, this salon is held on a regular basis targeting specific themes, and has been received warmly by teaching and medical staffs and students both inside and outside SDU.
