Dr. Yang Chi from SDU Won the RHIC/AGS Merit Award
[ Home ]Associated research fellow Yang Chi from Institute of Frontier and Interdisciplinary Science at SDU (Qingdao) won the RHIC/AGS Merit Award. The award was presented in the RHIC/AGS Annual User Meeting 2019 (AUM2019) held from June 4thto 7th2019 EST at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in United States. For this award, the RHIC/AGS Users' Executive Committee recognized exceptional students and scientists who are within 10 years of receiving their Ph.D., and who have conducted outstanding research in either theory or experiment related to the RHIC, AGS, NSRL, Tandem, BLIP, ATF and future facilities.
The award was presented to Dr. Yang Chi "in recognition for his seminal contributions in successful commissioning of the inner Time Projection Detector in STAR and his invaluable leadership in the role of STAR PWG convener". Dr. Yang Chi has long been engaged in the research of light flavor spectra and electromagnetic probes related physics in relativistic heavy ion collisions, and has participated in several detector upgrade projects of international mega science projects. As one of the principal authors, he finished the direct photon yield measurement firstly at STAR and the dilepton measurements over different collision systems. For example, the pioneering results of the coherent dilepton photoproduction and photon-photon interaction in non-central heavy ion collisions were recently published on PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 121, 132301 (2018). In the field of detector research, currently, he is deeply involved in the STAR sTGC detector upgrade as the leader of production group.
Dr. Yang Chi is now serving as the convener of the Light Flavor Spectra and UPC physics working group of STAR collaboration. He is also the convener of Electromagnetic Probes physics working group and the member of physics council of MPD collaboration. His research is funded by the NNSF of China, the NSF of Shandong Province and the "young scholar future plan" of SDU.
