I am a Film-maker, though at present still a novice. My short-term goal is to be a student in Beijing Film Academy. So, I'm now taking the self-taught examination in order to get the admission ticket of NEEP(The National Entrance Examination for Postgraduate). I need to plan learning process on my own and proceed with the plan as agreed. My major is English.

Even though I have been learning English for almost 12 years since 2003, it's hard to say that I'm good at English. Why?

The teaching methods used in English class are awkward. We are always busy in remembering and taking tests. English class is not a class whose aim is to use English but a class aimed at being a good test-taker. We never love English for these reasons.

As Ms Jin the associate professor of English at Fudan University said,  students who are major in English need to learn the skills of the laguage and also the English literature. I think the skills of lisening, reading, writing, speaking and other rules are the appearance of a language; while the literature is its soul. We won't be able to learn a English without learning the English literature! And the literature is so charming. You will love or hate something when you know about the soul. I love languages and being attracted by the soul of a language. It's clear I will consider the two aspects when planning the study process.

NEEP is a series of tests, so some test skills are also important. Firstly, I will take the mock exams of the subjects and analyse. The next is to make a study plan according to the analysis. I won't waste time and effort on any subject unless I fail to pass the mock exam. It works when learning with targets and paying attention to the weaknesses.

In addition to coping with the examination, I will take actions to improve my English level--increasing my English input( reading, listening…) and output( writing, speaking…). Input is the key to be good at outputing. I will read certain textbooks whose target is to improve the skills. I will also read the novels, watch English movies, write and speak in English, and consider more about the culture. Let me see how English is used in the daily life!

Constant dropping wears away the stone.
